A bill requiring the San Francisco Police Department officials assigned to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force to adhere to state and local privacy laws, which provide much stronger protections against racial profiling and suspicion-less spying than FBI and JTTF policies, was unanimously approved by a committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. The proposal, which will now go for a vote before the full Board of Supervisors, is modeled after a similar proposal that was passed in Portland, OR.
