ACLU of Louisiana Reminds School Districts of Equal Rights for Students
NEW ORLEANS – The ACLU of Louisiana sent its yearly reminder to the Superintendents of all Louisiana public school boards today, that they may not legally discriminate against LGBT students’ participation in school activities, particularly school dances. Students must be allowed to bring dates of the same sex to school dances, and may wear attire considered typical of any gender.
“We hope that you have committed to ensure that all students in your district students are given the legal rights they are entitled to under the law,” writes Executive Director Marjorie R. Esman.
