BALTIMORE — A federal court in Maryland issued an injunction blocking President Trump’s new Muslim ban executive order early this morning, just hours after a Hawaii court issued a nationwide injunction in a separate challenge. The American Civil Liberties Union and partner organizations are counsel in the suit and were in federal district court Wednesday seeking the injunction.

Omar Jadwat, director of the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project, who argued the case, had this reaction:

“The Maryland district court has issued yet another strong judicial condemnation of President Trump’s unconstitutional Muslim ban. If, as promised, he continues to try to defend this indefensible order in the courts — or goes back to the first iteration of the ban — he will just keep losing.”
