Government requests for Twitter user data rise 20% in 2012 (latimes.com)

Twitter’s latest biannual transparency report reveals that in the 2nd half of 2012, the U.S. government increased its number of user information requests by 20% over the first half. The report also reveals that 81% of these requests are made without a warrant, with 60% made by subpoena, which typically requires no judicial approval. Twitter provided information in response to only 69% of law enforcement requests.
