NEW ORLEANS — On April 6 and 7, 2016, the ACLU Foundation of Louisiana will present “Freedom for All Faiths: A Panel on the Future of Religious Liberty.” The event will be held in New Orleans and Lafayette, and will center on a panel discussion, moderated by actor and constitutional activist Mike Farrell. Audience members are invited to stay for a Q&A session following the panel.

“Freedom of belief is fundamental to the rest of our freedoms,” said Marjorie R. Esman, ACLU of Louisiana Executive Director. “Religious freedom thrives best when the government stays out of it, and government works best when it protects all faiths equally.”

Freedom for All Faiths: New Orleans will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of New Orleans, 2903 Jefferson Avenue.

Freedom for All Faiths: Lafayette will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at the Lafayette Public Library, Main Branch, 301 West Congress Street.

The panelists are:

  • Rev. Barry Lynn, Exec. Director of Americans United for Separation of Church & State
  • Rev. Walton Gaddy, Radio Host & President Emeritus of Interfaith Alliance
  • Mikey Weinstein, Founder & President of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation
  • Pedro L. Irigonegaray, Civil Liberties Attorney

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP to events@laaclu.org or at www.facebook.com/aclu.louisiana/events.
