WHAT:
The American Civil Liberties Union’s Border Litigation Project and the International Human Rights Clinic at the University of Chicago Law School will release a new report on the neglect and abuse of unaccompanied immigrant children in U.S. Customs and Border Protection custody.

The report is based on documents obtained by the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties and the ACLU of Arizona through a FOIA request and subsequent litigation. Since 2015, the ACLU has obtained over 30,000 pages of records related to the abuse of children in CBP custody.

In tandem with the release of the new report, the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties will be launching a new website publishing the records released and a timeline of the ACLU’s efforts to obtain these crucial documents from the U.S. government over the past four years.
