NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee today announced the hire of Brandon Tucker as policy director. Tucker will lead the organization’s policy advocacy work, including working with elected officials, partner organizations, administrative agencies and other stakeholders to advocate for civil liberties and civil rights.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Brandon to our team,” said Hedy Weinberg, ACLU-TN executive director. “Brandon is deeply committed to justice, equality and fair treatment for all people. His expertise in building strategic campaigns with a range of stakeholders will advance ACLU-TN’s policy goals and priorities at the state and local level. We look forward to Brandon’s leadership in moving our state forward.”

Prior to joining the ACLU-TN team, Tucker worked as a state advocacy strategist with the national ACLU, developing and implementing legislative and advocacy campaigns, in collaboration with state affiliates across the country. Previously, Tucker served as political coordinator for the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union in Washington, D.C., managing issue, organizing and electoral campaigns in multiple states and lobbying on behalf of members’ interests. Tucker has also worked as an organizer for the Service Employees International Union and held political and field leadership roles for several political campaigns. A graduate of Fisk University, Tucker is looking forward to working in Tennessee again.

“I am excited to be back in Tennessee and to hit the ground running to protect and expand civil liberties and civil rights during this particularly critical moment in our state and our nation’s history,” Tucker said. “I look forward to partnering with people from across the political spectrum to advance policies that protect the rights of all Tennesseans.”
