ACLU of Nevada Reiterates Request for Investigation of Metro

The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice reiterating its request for a patterns and practices investigation, under federal civil rights law, of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.
The ACLU of Nevada and the NAACP of Las Vegas had jointly sent a petition requesting the investigation by the DOJ’s Special Litigation Section in early January. Subsequently, the DOJ told the ACLU of Nevada and the NAACP of Las Vegas that it would monitor work done in Las Vegas by COPS (Office of Community Oriented Policing Services) via a private contractor, the CNA managing consulting firm, and that the DOJ would decide later whether to conduct a full civil rights investigation.
