LINCOLN, Neb – Today President Donald Trump issued executive orders related to immigration and refugees. ACLU of Nebraska Executive Director Danielle Conrad issued the following statement:

“The ACLU stands in solidarity with immigrants and refugees. These misguided federal actions will negatively impact many immigrant and refugee families who have enriched our communities. Nebraska has a proud tradition of welcoming those who flee unimaginable persecution and violence and those who wish to pursue the American dream. These federal actions undermine Nebraska values, Nebraska traditions, and seek to punish local communities that reject discriminatory and exclusionary policies like these because they know they undermine public safety goals.

“The ACLU stands ready to defend the rights of immigrants and refugees who call America home and encourages all Nebraskans to call upon our federal delegation and remind them our state has no place for hate. We further encourage all Nebraskans to speak out and oppose anti-immigrant and anti-refugee measures pending in the state legislature this session.”
