ACLU of Iowa Executive Director Mark Stringer has issued a statement on the Iowa Legislature introducing, debating and unanimously approving a police reform bill today.

“This legislation is an important step in the right direction and credit is due to the Black communities across Iowa who have been agitating for real reforms for years. Credit is also due to the thousands of Iowans who took to the streets to protest against police violence in Black communities. There’s still much more work to be done.”
