NEW YORK— The Trump administration announced it will move forward with printing the 2020 census without the citizenship question. The move comes after the Supreme Court last week blocked the question.

The American Civil Liberties Union, New York Civil Liberties Union, and Arnold & Porter successfully challenged the administration on behalf of immigrants’ rights groups.

Dale Ho, director of the ACLU’s Voting Rights Project who argued the Supreme Court case, had this reaction to today’s news:

“In light of the Supreme Court’s ruling, the Trump administration had no choice but to proceed with printing the 2020 census forms without a citizenship question. Everyone in America counts in the census, and today’s decision means we all will.”
