LITTLE ROCK – With reports indicating a surge in voter registrations nationwide, the ACLU of Arkansas is urging Arkansans to confirm their polling location, bring a government-issued photo ID and make a plan to vote during early voting (through November 5) or on Election Day (November 6).

“With record numbers of people getting registered to vote, we want to make sure every eligible voter can make their voice heard in this critical midterm election,” said Rita Sklar, ACLU of Arkansas executive director. “Confirming your polling location and making a plan to vote is even more important this year, as many polling places in Arkansas have closed or relocated since the primary. Now more than ever we need to vote like our rights depend on it, and we’re committed to making sure all Arkansans, regardless of party, can do just that.”

Confirming your polling place is vital this year because around two-thirds of the county boards of elections in Arkansas have closed polling places that were open for the 2016 General Election & the 2018 Primary and Non-Partisan Judicial election. Some counties closed as many as half of the polling places that were open during the primary and last General Election.

A record number of voters voted on National Voter Registration Day this year, and many states are reporting record numbers of voters registering.

Voters can confirm their polling location by visiting the state’s VoterView website: https://www.voterview.ar-nova.org/VoterView/PollingPlaceSearch.do

Voters who will be unavoidably absent from the polls on Election Day are encouraged to vote early or with an absentee ballot.

For help or additional information, voters are encouraged to call the Election Protection Hotline: 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) / Para ayuda o más información: 479-763-2822.
