Tomorrow is the deadline for the state of Florida to appeal the 3rd District Court of Appeal’s decision in In re: Gill, the case challenging the Florida law that prohibits gay people from adopting. Late last month, the 3rd District upheld the lower family court decision that found the adoption ban violated the state constitution. That family court ruling came after a four-day trial that highlighted the overwhelming scientific evidence that gay and straight people make equally good parents.

The Department of Children and Families, one of the defendants in the case, announced earlier this month that it will not appeal .

The state has until tomorrow to appeal the 3rd District’s decision to the Florida Supreme Court. If it decides not to appeal, the infamous ban will be dead.

Keep your fingers crossed for us!
