We're at Netroots! The Nancy Pelosi Q&A

July 19, 2008

We’re surrounded by bleary eyed, hungover bloggers…there were some late parties last night. But it looks like a full house for the “Ask the Speaker” Q&A with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). Netroots Executive Director Gina Cooper just gave attendees 10 seconds to get any loud protests/shenanigans out of their system. Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Tex.) just introduced Pelosi, and now Pelosi is making comments.

“107 days until the election,” Pelosi reminds us. (She recently called President Bush a “total failure.”)

A few people in the audience are holding up their ACLU pocket-Constitutions while she answers the questions. Yay! Although their arms are going to get tired…this is a two-hour Q&A.

She’s now defending her moves on FISA. She points the finger at the 17 Democrats who supported the Republicans for the bill’s passage. She hints that things will change after a new president is sworn in.

Pelosi supports Net Neutrality. She accuses the Bells of standing in the way of innovation by opposing it.

Hey look! Al Gore just showed up!
