It’s the best time of year, folks: March Madness. Even though it’s almost April, March Madness still consumes offices across the country as we move onto the Final Four. Whether you’re a diehard Kentucky fan like me (go Cats!) or just someone who wants to win their office bracket, it’s going to be hard to focus on anything else for the next couple days.
Basketball isn’t the only thing we’re watching on TV this week, though. If you’re like me, your eyes will be glued to C-SPAN. Congress is holding a lot of big hearings over the next couple days on issues related to civil liberties. Here’s what you should schedule your DVR to record:

The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions will hold a hearing titled “Access to Justice: Ensuring Equal Pay with the Paycheck Fairness Act.”
Access to Justice
American University Washington College of Law is hosting the Civil Society Consultation with the U.S. Government on Access to Justice. Sarah Mehta of the ACLU Human Rights Project will present on Access to Justice in the US Immigration System on behalf of the ACLU.
Wednesday, April 2nd
Immigration
The House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee is holding a hearing on the budget of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. CBP Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske is testifying.
School-to-Prison Pipeline
The House Education and Workforce Committee will hold a hearing titled “Keeping College Within Reach: Meeting the Needs of Contemporary Students.”
Thursday, April 3rd
Torture Accountability
The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence is expected to hold a vote on declassification and release of at least part of its 6,000 page report on the CIA Rendition, Interrogation, and Detention program.
Friday, April 4th
Immigration
The House Appropriations Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee is holding a hearing on the budget of the Department of Justice. Attorney General Eric Holder will testify.
Juvenile Justice
The Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee will hold hearings on proposed fiscal 2015 appropriations for the Department of Justice Budget. Attorney General Eric Holder will testify.
