League of Women Voters of Indiana v. Rokita

Indiana law that requires voters to possess a valid, current government-issued photo identification in order to cast a ballot on Election Day imposes an unnecessary and unduly hard burden on voters.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed an amicus brief in the Indiana Supreme Court charging that the Indiana Photo ID law violates Indiana’s Equal Privileges and Immunities Clause because the law unjustifiably privileges select groups by exempting them from the law’s photo identification requirements.
