Bio
Julia Kaye (she/her) is a Senior Staff Attorney with the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project, where she fights against laws that harm abortion and miscarriage patients, their families, and the clinicians who care for them. Julia served as lead counsel in the two lawsuits, ACOG v. FDA and Chelius v. Becerra, that led the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to eliminate its in-person requirement for medication abortion and permit patients to obtain the abortion pill by mail and at retail pharmacies. She has also led or co-counseled litigation in numerous states challenging abortion bans, mandatory delay requirements, laws prohibiting qualified advanced practice clinicians from providing abortion care, and other medically unjustified restrictions on access to essential health care. Julia joined ACLU-RFP as a Legal Fellow in 2013 and returned in 2015 following a clerkship with the Honorable Edward R. Korman in the Eastern District of New York. She holds degrees from New York University School of Law and Barnard College.
Julia has commented on abortion restrictions for BBC World News, the Lovett or Leave It podcast, and the Washington Post, among other outlets.
