Amanda Scott Daigle is a paralegal at the ACLU’s Voting Rights Project in Washington, DC. Since joining the ACLU in 2019, Amanda has served as the lead paralegal on two U.S. Supreme Court cases: Allen v. Milligan (2023) striking down Alabama’s congressional maps for racial gerrymandering, and Trump v. New York (2020) challenging Trump’s efforts to exclude undocumented immigrants from congressional apportionment. She also helped the team protect the right to vote by mail in the 2020 election during the COVID pandemic, winning 28 legal victories in 21 states and Puerto Rico.
Amanda is a graduate of Georgetown University and a Harry S. Truman Scholar. At Georgetown, she studied government and history, and did a senior independent study on criminal disenfranchisement laws and systemic racism in the United States. Before joining the ACLU, Amanda interned at the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division and the DC Mayor’s Office. A native of Mobile, Alabama, she served on the Board of Directors of the ACLU of Alabama, where she had the distinction of being the youngest person nominated and elected to the board.
